Camelot Gardens on Norfolk Island are the realisation of a childhood dream.
My two great loves as a girl growing up on Sydney's North Shore were gardening and reading and they remain so today. However, it was not until I turned 57 years of age in 2001 that I seriously began to make my dream of creating a beautiful garden a reality.
Whilst Norfolk Island did not become my home until 1966 , its romantic history was part of the stories told by my Dad John Adams and his family around the Sunday lunch table as they reminisced about their childhood growing up on Norfolk. I fell into using the Norfolk language at an early age which certainly helped me in assimilating into this special Island community all those years ago.
I recall being told in the late 90's that what one passionately loved doing as a child is a signpost to one's true purpose in life! If this be true I wonder how many people do actually realise their childhood passions.
Visitors often say to me that my two acre parkland gardens "must be such a lot of work". It gives me pleasure to share with them my belief ~ "that if you love what you are doing, you never do a day's work" and I can truly say that ~
Camelot Gardens on Norfolk Island have been created with love.
