Norfolk Island is a community working towards a future that is 100% sustainable ....

With my colleague Simon Bigg in 2009 I created a website www.sustainablenorfolk.com. The focus of the website is principally on showcasing Norfolk Island to the world as a place where growers are working towards gardening in a sustainable way, working with nature, not against her.In September 2008, the Norfolk Island Government funded a visit to Norfolk Island of Graeme Sait, the CEO and founder of Queensland company Nutri-Tech Solutions (NTS), a recognised world leader in sustainable agriculture and horticulture. During his visit he conducted a two day seminar on sustainable agriculture for Norfolk's commercial and domestic growers to fain first hand knowledge on how to grow their produce using biological and sustainable agriculture practices.Graeme has this to say on his return to Queensland:
|
"Norfolk Island has the potential to become a biological showpiece, producing nutrient-dense, medicinal food, with forgotten flavours and extended shelf-life for locals and visitors alike. There is a massive groundswell of interest in sustainable agriculture around the globe and it would be quite a draw card to visit such a beautiful place to see this approach in action.".
