Camelot ~ a never ending story for you to explore and enjoy ~
The gardens are open daily to the public from 10 am to 4 pm and admission is $5 for adults, children under 16 years free.
I have found that the "honesty box" at the entrance works well and people enjoy being trusted to pay - not having the right money can be a bit of a problem sometimes but people do the best they can with what they've got. In fact the honesty box system is alive and well on Norfolk and visitors roaming our country roads will often come across a roadside stall selling farm produce with the trusty old tin for you to put your money in.

My "day job" since 1984 has been Clerk to the Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island so I am not at the gardens on most week days though I do try to meet and greet groups arriving on the tour buses that visit the gardens each week. You meet some really interesting and lovely people on the tours and many a gardening tip is shared - always promise myself to carry around a notebook and pen to jot down handy hints but I only remember it when the bus disappears down the road.

Off road parking is not a problem; you just drive over the cattle stop from Rooty Hill Road and follow the signs. You know if you are in the right place because the muscovy ducks will start to pace up and down in hopes of something to eat. Their job is supposed to be to keep the grass down around the nectarine and peach trees but it hasn't worked for me - my son tells me it might if I stopped giving them chook pellets like I do!

All properties outside of the town area on Norfolk have cattle stops and wooden or electric fences to keep out the cattle that roam the roads mowing the grass - in fact they have right of way on our roads! Along with the gaggle of geese that roam the Kingston common and stop the traffic when they are hissing and parading in the middle of the road.
If you don't have a hire car tour companies offer garden tours each week and Camelot is included.
